Ditch That Splenda!

This post is going to be a pretty short one, but it's full of sweet treats!

First up: German Chocolate Cake Jocolat Bar. I found this bar to be okay, nothing too special. I really loved the pecans in it and the coconut gave it a nice flavor. It was very rich but I think the chocolate overpowered the other ingredients. I would have to say this was my 2nd favorite out of the new Larabar flavors launched. First being PB&J, last being Tropical.

I made another Strawberry-Rhubarb Smoothie this morning and it was delicious!
-1/2 cup frozen strawberries
-1/4 cup frozen rhubarb
-1 scoop Sun Warrior Vanilla Protein
-1 cup almond milk
-1/4 cup water
-a few drops of Cocoa Bean Liquid Stevia...

I got the stevia from NuNaturals, and absolutely love it! I've never tried liquid stevia before but I really love this brand. It's not bitter at all and has a very pleasant hint of vanilla or chocolate flavor in them. I also used the Cocoa Bean Stevia in the Holiday Chia Pudding I made yesterday and I used the Vanilla Stevia in a batch of Gena's Cashew Cream. Both turned out fantastic and were just sweet enough for me.

I also received Pure White Stevia Extract, Clear Stevia Liquid, and the NoCarbs Blend Stevia.
In case you don't know NuNaturals Stevia...
-has 0 calories
-does not affect blood sugar, so it is safe for diabetics
-100% natural, unlike sweeteners like Splenda
-Dissolves instantly
-Gluten free, soy free, contains no yeast, wheat, milk, synthetics, artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives.
It is my sweetener of choice in everything I eat. I can't handle too much sugar without breaking out of feeling weak and lazy. Stevia is sweet, without the harmful effects on the body.

The last 2 items sent to me, were the Packets of Stevia Powder and the Stevia Baking Blend. I have tried the packets before and it is by far the best tasting stevia I have ever had. No bitterness at all, and the perfect serving size for most smoothies, bowls of oatmeal, or fresh fruit. I am super excited to use the baking blend because in the past I've had to guesstimate how many packets I would need for a baked good. Now I can just replace it with the same amount of the baking blend, no guessing required. I'll be sure to get reviews up once I bake something, which will be very soon!

Farmer's Market and Trader Joe's for tomorrow and another product review! Hope you are having a great evening lovies! xoxo

I just bought the german chocolate cake larabar yesterday! I can't wait to try it....I love chocolate so I doubt it will be too overpowering for me :) THanks for the review on the NuNaturals Stevia packets; I've been wanting to buy them but wasn't sure how they'd taste...I think I'm going to go purchase some now though!!

hey lovie. :)
so many differnet opinions on the new lara's...brooke loved this one, i probably would like it idk, i love the sound of all the ingredients...but i think the tropical fruit one appeals to me most, love tropically!
ahh stevia, so so much better than splenda, i am so glad i kicked that horrible habit of using splenda, and i think i have you to thank ;) i remember back in the winter i used splenda to sweeten my carrot cake oats and you made a comment about stevia, now all i use is truvia packets, they are ridiculously good, i sometimes think "are they lying" lol it tastes so real...i carry it around so when i go to sbux i can put it in my iced coffee :)

love you babe

I'm happy to see a review of the new Larabar flavors. They haven't made their way to my local stores. Can't wait to try them out, but happy to know that the german chocolate cake wasn't as fab as I imagined.

i love the nunaturals stevia powder too. stevia is also my sweetener of choice. consuming too much sugar, even if it's agave or maple syrup or something of the like, i don't like how i feel afterwards. and i didn't know that there was a baking blend! i need to go buy that right now! i would bake SO much more often if i had an easy sugar replacement that i know wouldn't mess up the recipe! i'm getting super excited now...gotta find that stuff pronto!

Cool! Stevia products always confuse me. It seems like some are diluted, and some aren't. Some are so sweet that you can only put in one drop, and some you put in in larger quantities like the packets. What gives?!

I am so FOR ditching those artificial sweeteners! Stevia is the shit!

I would love to see a photo or two of your farmers market! Every part of the country -- even each market in the same area -- is different, with different things for sale, so maybe you could show us something unique about your market?

Aw man, I just cannot wait to try that German Chocolate Cake flavor! I'm not a fan of stevia though. It tastes funny to me. I've really tried to like it, but even though it's natural, it still has an artificial taste.

How would you say the nunaturals compares to truvia packets? I've never had either but truvia is all I can find around here, so I'm hoping you've given it a shot :)

Also love the idea of a strawberry rhubarb smoothie. It sounds really refreshing!
